  I chose an asynchronous class w/ Reiko. But, she was very nice when I contacted her via email/Zoom. You do have to keep up w/ the module readings/mini lectures as you go. Homework assignments were fairly easy, yet time consuming. A few papers to write. & group projects w/ students she assigns you with. I'm sure there are easier professors.

  One of the best class so far! Reiko was always organized and very sweet. She gets straight to the point and her lectures are long but of great value. Homework and homework are easy if you study and pay attention to her class. She always has positive energy during class and during office hours. I would totally recommend her class!

  I'm taking her clinical phonetics class right now & she created a work book that follows the content of ea. ch. which has been SO helpful. If anyone complains about her class, they're just not reading or asking questions bc even though her lectures are really long, she goes over everything you're expected to know on exams. I would take her again.

  Professor Reiko is the best! Lectures are clear and always available. Group project can be done individually if wanted. If you need to fulfill Area R, I would definitely recommend this class. I took it over the summer in 4 weeks and it was an easy A, just do your assignments and final project.

  She is very unorganized. Also, her lectures do not explain hardly anything in terms of the homework. I had a lot of trouble with this class because she never explained things well.

  Such an amazing profesor class content seemed hard at times, however she explains content the best way possible and makes it easy for students to understand. Interesting content, course reader needed and extra credit opportunity.

  She has her own coursebook. She takes attendance but it doesn't count for anything. You have two essays but you do half of it when you do the reading responses. There's only one midterm which is multiple choice and study as if you were getting fill in the blank questions. She is really funny and makes the lectures interesting even tho its long

  All the assignments were really straightforward and if you follow the rubric, you should be good to go. The exams are the hardest part of the class but its not really hard, here are my tips. She provides study guide with questions, answer those questions using the course reader. Don't just focus on the answer, but also the context of the answer.

  She was nice and caring about her students. Not a very difficult class but do require hard work in order to get an A. Her tests were a bit tricky but she provided study guides, so do those questions and you should ace the tests. She was pretty clear with what she expected in the essays so be sure to follow the rubrics to get good grades on them.

  She is an amazing and knowledgable professor. The work in this class was manageable, there were 4 papers based on class material, midterm & finals that were mainly based on the study guide, and one group presentation. The class was fun and very interesting.

  4 short to medium length papers that are not that hard, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Follow her rubric when writing the papers. As long as you follow it, you will get a good grade. Her exams can be a little tricky but she gives you a study guide so study it and know the material.

  Focus on the rubric rather than writing quality for all papers. Use the exam study guides. Study it as though it is free response, and you will ace the exam because it is multiple choice. Weekly easy quiz. Thick accent, but it doesn't really matter because this is more of a read it-do it class. Do extra credit. 1 point 1 percent in this class.

  One of the easiest teachers and easy class. Her accent is not bad, people are overreacting, she's completely understandable. Gives out 4 points of extra credit (class has total of 100 pts), meaning if you got an 85.1%, you would have an A- with her extra credit (she rounds up 89.1% to 90%).   Though this was a GE course, Kataoka's teaching style was effective and manageable. She hands all resources to you, while guiding you with lectures. You will be sure to get an easy A if you catch this class, and you will learn an interesting subject along with it.

  honestly, i think she's a horrible teacher. she has a thick accent so i can't understand her at all and her grading is pretty strict. i would not recommend taking this class. i wish i could drop her class but unfortunately it's too late.

  Very kind, genuinely cares about students. It was difficult for me to hear and understand because of her accent. Buying and using the course reader is imperative. There were two 1500 word essays, MC midterm, MC final.

  Great professor always prepared and willing to clarify and help students succeed. She provides helpful study guides, grading rubrics & optional readings are definitely a benefit to understanding the research that's the foundation for the lectures. Videos are really cool, and she varies her presentations so nothing ever becomes routine.

  I have enjoyed the class; the teacher is pretty easy the work is simple and clear. All her papers are one page length. I would easily A+ with little bit of hard work, but if you don't want to work you would get A or an A-.
